Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg + 1 yolk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips or chunks
- Flaky sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- 1
Cream butter and both sugars until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- 2
Beat in the egg, yolk, and vanilla.
- 3
Whisk flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt, then mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- 4
Fold in the chocolate. Scoop into 8 large balls (about 1/2 cup each) and chill at least 2 hours.
- 5
Bake at 350°F for 11-13 minutes until edges are set but centers look slightly underdone.
- 6
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and cool 10 minutes on the tray.
💡 Pro tip
Chilling the dough is non-negotiable — warm dough spreads too thin and you lose the thick, bakery-style center.
